TSD Created Projects Demonstration

This video demonstration was conducted at the new Perth SOLIDWORKS Reseller SFWorks’s Launch and covered some of the projects that have been completed using The Steel Detailer in some amazing time frames and with some amazing models such as the 1 million+ component assembly.

Solidworks 2014 Launch

This video demonstration is a simple overview of all features that have been built into the latest version 2014 of The Steel Detailer for SolidWorks 2014.

Mining – Automated 3D Modelling of Conveyors

This demonstration shows the Project Automation Function of obtaining all of the sketches in a project and then the process of assigning library models to the sketch segments. A library model member sketch is sketch related to the sketch segment and stretched by parametric behaviour to match the length of the Sketch Segment. As each model is inserted a detailed drawing is supplied also.

Building – Automated 3D Modelling of Steel Structural Buildings

This demonstration shows the Project Automation Function similarly to the above demonstration. Various structural library models have been assigned to sketch segments along with configurations, rotation around axis, second sketch select for height. Library models consist of columns, mullions, beams, trusses, wall girt banks complete with bridging and bolts, purlin banks complete with bridging and bolts.

Building – Automated 3D Modelling of Concrete Panels

This demonstration shows the Project Automation Function similarly to the above demonstration. Concrete library models have been assigned to sketch segments along with configurations and a vertical sketch segment attachment for height. The Tilt Panel library model contains central mesh, dowels, dowel tube, starter bars and prop ferrules.

Mining – Automated 3D Modelling of Chute Liner Plates

This demonstration shows the Project Automation Function similarly to the above demonstration. A chute liner plate been assigned to sketch segments along with configurations and a vertical sketch segment attachment for height. The library plate model comes with the plate, liner and studs and detail drawing.

Concrete Panel Detailing

This is a demonstration of how Concrete Panels are modelled and detailed using the capabilities of The Steel Detailer.

  • Parametric Panels
  • Automatic Multiple Panel Member Insertion
  • Easy Panel Modifications such as adding Windows
  • Fast Replicated Dimensional Changes
  • Drawing Automation
  • Re-Enforcement Changes
  • Automatic Ferrule Placement on Far Face (FF), Near Face (NF) and Side Face (SF) Prop Ferrules etc.

Wireframe Driving Sketches

This is a demonstration of how to model a Wireframe for Member Attachment and multi-user design intent such as

  • Starting a Wireframe Assembly and how it should be created
  • The different types of Wireframe sketches
  • Multi-user setup
  • Single user setup
  • The direction of sketch lines and why they are sketched the way they are sketched
  • How to modify a sketch frame to get the right results
  • Bolted and welded sketch frames

Connections

This is a demonstration of how members are inserted into projects for modification and re-use.

Copy and Duplication of Members with Bolted Connections

This is a demonstration of how Existing Members with bolted connections in a Project can be copied then modified or duplicated.

Bolted Connection Library and Insertion

This is a demonstration of how Connections are inserted into projects for modification and re-use.

New Bolted Connection Creation

This is a demonstration of how to Create a Connection from scratch.

Part Library and Insertion

This is a demonstration of how to add to the Part Library and insertion of part library components into projects.

Girt and Purlin Banks

This is a demonstration of how to insert a Girt or Purlin banks into a project. Modify it and then add it back to the library for re-use.

Automated Purlin Drawing Creation

This is a demonstration of how to automatically create Purlin, Girt, Fascia or Joist Drawings from cold rolled Steel Sections.

Automated General Arrangement Drawing Creation

This is a demonstration of how to setup for Automated General Arrangement, Marking or Construction Drawing Creation such as

  • Adding Grid Lines
  • Numbering and lettering directions
  • Reduced Levels and Elevations
  • Section Blockouts
  • Drawing Template Setups

International Steel Weldment Profiles

This is a demonstration of how to use the Match Weldments feature in The Steel Detailer where you can.

  • Modify International Weldment profiles in different parts whilst maintaining positions and Connections
  • Modify all Weldment Profiles in different parts
  • Swap out types of Weldment Profiles using an Excel spreadsheet

Concrete and re-inforcement detailing

The question was asked as to whether TSD could detail concrete.

We know SolidWorks can be used to detail anything ... but with the power of TSD, you will save a lot of time.

So here is a basic demonstration of how concrete slabs, columns, beams using ties, longitudinal bars, cogged bars and mesh are placed into a project from the library.

A user through SolidWorks functionality can have many configurations which can change the bar or mesh sizes or even the Concrete shape. This demonstration also uses the MTO function to extract the number of bars, lengths and volumes of concrete.

By using TSD ‘s Locking of a Member will combine the Reinforcing bars for the total of the project and update the Bill of Materials automatically.

Drawings are created automatically bases on standard drawing templates.

Any concrete item such as strip footings, pad footings, piles, circular and square columns, curved beams, retaining walls and even concrete pits can be detailed using TSD.
